The Pareto frontier of MLB stats
The chart — each dot is one MLB season (or career total in Career mode), plotted on any two stats you choose. Dots are colored by era, from the Dead Ball years to today.
The red staircase is the Pareto frontier: no season in history has ever achieved more in both stats at once. The step shape is exact — each horizontal or vertical edge marks where the record changes, and anything above-right of the line would extend it.
Hover a red dot to see the shaded area that season exclusively controls — the region the frontier would lose if it were removed. A wide dashed ring shows how close any other season ever came. Click to lock it.
Click any red dot to trace that player's other seasons in gold and reveal the combined frontier area all their seasons collectively own. Click a second player to see their joint footprint together.
Press ▶ next to the year range to watch the frontier evolve — the end year advances automatically so you can see which seasons rewrote history and when.
Explore by picking any two stats, adjusting the year range, or filtering by league, handedness, or birthplace.
